Votes Not on a Bill, 2003-2004

Every vote the House and the Senate took in the term on a question that was on no bill: its own rules, a ruling of the chair, a member allowed to go on speaking, and the rest.

Granite Record indexes the General Court’s record; it is not that record. Where a citation allows only one source, cite the General Court — every page here links to what it is drawn from. The date below is the day the page was read.

The kind and the summary are the site’s, from the House and Senate Journals; where a vote’s passage could not be matched to it for certain, the row says how the General Court’s roll-call file words it (“In the record”) and nothing more. A division or a voice vote is recorded in the Journal alone: it gives the count, or not even that, and not each member’s vote. Each day leads to the vote on its session day’s page.
