This bill directs the Department of Health and Human Services to electronically notify a licensed child care program provider that a family has named them in a child care scholarship application within three days of receipt of the application. Competition for child care spaces is fierce, and a provider may hold a spot for a family of limited means open if they know a decision on a child care scholarship is pending. The committee believes that this bill will help level the field of access to child care, and give families that are financially strained increased opportunities to re-enter the workforce. Vote 18-0.
