Committee — OUGHT TO PASS WITH AMENDMENT

This bill creates a new license plate be made available for ham and amateur radio operators. The committee recognizes amateur radio operators in their critical role supplementing communication during states of emergency and non-standard events. These license plates can help identify radio operators during times of crisis but do not designate any differential treatment under law. This may be helpful in identifying volunteer communication assistance during a time of crisis. The amendment changes the effective date to January 1, 2027 to allow for NH DMV to integrate new license plate technology which is reducing the fiscal note for new license plate programs. Vote 15-0.
