Where it stands
House: DIED ON THE TABLE
Every floor vote on this bill was a voice or division vote, so there is no record of how individual legislators voted.
A bill goes on the consent calendar when the committee vote was unanimous or nearly so, and any members who dissented did not object to placing it there. It then passes without floor debate. Ten members may file a petition to pull a bill off the consent calendar and have it debated and voted on separately.
The bill was set aside during the session and never taken back up, so it died when the session ended.

Committee — INEXPEDIENT TO LEGISLATE
Although a significant group of the committee believes this bill has merit, there are some clear language deficiencies. For example, we agree with the idea that information stored in the cloud should remain personal information; however, the way the bill is drafted leaves it too open and broad. The legislature recently passed a few data privacy laws with input from the business community and other stake holders, and we believe we should let those bills become effective before we make additional changes. There are many on the committee that believe we should investigate this further but at this time we are not ready to pass this language. Vote 11-3.
