Rep. Ross Berry

This bill extends the time allotted for political parties to file a candidate after the close of the filing period for unfilled seats. The current deadline is three days, which often creates strain for political parties that may not become aware of an unfilled seat until late in the filing period. The committee believes that as many seats as possible should have candidates, and this measure helps achieve that goal. Vote 14-0.
