This legislation is redundant and premature at this time. New Hampshire has recently been awarded its share in federal Rural Health Transformation Program funding for fiscal year 2026. This substantial investment is specifically designed to strengthen rural health care access, workforce development, quality improvement, and innovations like telehealth and technology, directly addressing primary care provider shortages and availability in rural communities. The state has established the Governor’s Office of New Opportunities & Rural Transformational Health (GO-NORTH) to oversee implementation, incorporating extensive input from over 300 stakeholders, including rural hospitals, providers, community health centers, and Granite Staters. These ongoing, well-resourced efforts provide a far more comprehensive and action-oriented approach than an additional legislative study committee. Vote 18-0.
