Committee — OUGHT TO PASS
Currently, municipalities do not reliably receive notice when real estate is inherited by a new owner, which can result in incorrect and unpaid property tax bills, improper tax exemptions and credits, and wrongly addressed abutters’ notices, as well as issues involving municipal utility billing, dog licensing, etc. This bill would facilitate notice of such property ownership attained through the probate process. The NH Registry of Deeds Association, NH Association of Realtors, and NH Municipal Association all support this housekeeping bill and no testimony was submitted in opposition. Vote 14-0.
