Committee — INEXPEDIENT TO LEGISLATE
This bill although well intended in principle is not efficient to implement. This bill seeks to make the law gender neutral in a single chapter of statute, specifically the chapter governing Registers of Deeds. The committee determined a better approach, if this is a priority, would be to pursue legislation directing that all pronouns in all chapters of law be changed to be gender neutral. The committee concluded changing one chapter of law at a time is not an efficient approach. Vote 14-0.
