The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2025 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 15, 2025. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2025-0531s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on March 6, 2025. The committee's amendment (2025-0531s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 6, 2025, changing the text of the bill. On March 6, 2025 the Senate adopted the motion that it ought to pass with an amendment on a voice vote, but its third reading was left pending. On March 6, 2025 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Regina Birdsell. The bill died on the table under Senate Rule 3-23 on October 31, 2025, having been set aside and never taken back up.
