The Story

The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2025-0680h), and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 17–1. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On March 13, 2025 the House failed “Lay HB 739 on Table” on a division vote 150–223, on a motion by Rep. Cordelli. The committee's amendment (2025-0680h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 13, 2025, changing the text of the bill. On March 13, 2025 the House voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 246–128. On March 13, 2025 the bill was referred to the Ways and Means committee, whose chair waived the referral under House Rule 47(f). It crossed to the Senate on March 13, 2025 and was referred to the Senate Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 1, 2025. The committee voted unanimously, 8–0, to recommend that the Senate kill it. On May 15, 2025 the Senate voted to kill it on a voice vote.
