The Story

It crossed to the Senate on March 27, 2025 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The Senate withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Finance committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on April 8, 2025. The committee voted 6–1 to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 17, 2025 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 1, 2025 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. It became law without the governor's signature. The governor neither signed it nor returned it, and the docket records it as enacted under Part II, Article 44 of the state constitution.
