The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2025 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 22, 2025, with 16 people signed in online: 9 in support and 7 in opposition. The committee met in executive session on January 22, 2025 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 20, 2025 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 6, 2025 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 25, 2025. The committee voted 3–1 to recommend that the Senate kill it. On April 17, 2025 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Daryl Abbas. The bill died on the table under Senate Rule 3-23 on October 31, 2025, having been set aside and never taken back up.
