HB 526-FN (2024)
regulating the use of temporary traffic control personnel.
- Status: Killed
- Term: 2023-2024
- House committee: Municipal and County Government
- Subject: Miscellaneous
The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 2023 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Municipal and County Government committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on February 8, 2023. The committee met in executive session on February 15, 2023 and February 16, 2023. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee met in executive session on October 18, 2023 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 18–1 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2023-2311h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 4, 2024 the House adopted “Recommit” on a division vote 286–69, on a motion by Rep. Lucy Weber. The committee held a public hearing on February 21, 2024, with 66 people signed in online: 2 in support and 64 in opposition. The committee met in executive session on March 11, 2024 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 12–4 to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 21, 2024 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
