The committee voted unanimously, 4–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it. The bill was enrolled on June 13, 2024 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2024-2311e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor vetoed it on July 19, 2024. The legislature can override a veto with a two-thirds vote in both chambers. On October 10, 2024 the House voted 232–99 to override the governor's veto on a roll call, meeting the two thirds threshold. On October 10, 2024 the Senate voted 22–1 to override the governor's veto on a roll call, meeting the two thirds threshold. It became law over the governor's veto, as Chapter 380. The governor had vetoed it, and the House and the Senate each overrode the veto by a two-thirds vote, which under Part II, Article 44 of the state constitution makes it law without the governor's signature.
