- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2023-2024
- House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
- Senate committee: Health and Human Services

The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 2024 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 20, 2024, with 305 people signed in online: 302 in support, 2 in opposition and 1 as neutral. The committee met in executive session on March 6, 2024 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House kill it, and the minority recommended that the House pass it, by a vote of 12–8. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On March 28, 2024 the House failed “Lay HB1190 on Table” on a division vote 181–192, on a motion by Rep. Joe Sweeney. On March 28, 2024 the House rejected a motion to kill it on a roll call 175–200. On March 28, 2024 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 10, 2024. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 2, 2024 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 13, 2024 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 3, 2024, making it Chapter 121 of the session laws.
