The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 2023 and referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 17, 2023. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2023-0404s). The committee's amendment (2023-0404s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 9, 2023, changing the text of the bill. On February 9, 2023 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 9, 2023 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 16, 2023 and was referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2023. The committee met in executive session on May 3, 2023 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 18, 2023 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 15, 2023 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2023-2098e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 30, 2023, making it Chapter 142 of the session laws. It took effect on June 30, 2023.
