The Story

It was introduced on January 19, 2023 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 1, 2023. The committee recommended that the Senate send it back to committee. On March 16, 2023 the Senate adopted “Special Order to 03/30/2023, Without Objection”. The committee recommended that the Senate send it back to committee. On March 30, 2023 the Senate rejected a motion to send it back to committee on a voice vote. A floor amendment (2023-1262s), offered by Sen. Perkins Kwoka, was adopted on a voice vote on March 30, 2023, changing the text of the bill. On March 30, 2023 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on April 6, 2023 and was referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 19, 2023. The committee met in executive session on May 3, 2023 to vote on its recommendation.
