SB 110-FN-LOCAL (2023)

relative to residency status.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2023-2024
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Election Law and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Welfare/Medicare/Medicaid
  • Chapter law: 161

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2023 and referred to the Senate Election Law and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 2023. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2023-0618s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2023-0618s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 9, 2023, changing the text of the bill. On March 9, 2023 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 16, 2023 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Municipal and County Government committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on April 20, 2023. The committee met in executive session on May 10, 2023 to vote on its recommendation. The committee recommended that the House make no recommendation. On June 8, 2023 the House voted to pass it on a roll call 190–180. The bill was enrolled on June 29, 2023 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 28, 2023, making it Chapter 161 of the session laws. It took effect on September 26, 2023.
