The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2022 and referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 2022. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2022-0659s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2022-0659s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 16, 2022, changing the text of the bill. On February 16, 2022 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. A floor amendment (2022-0810s), offered by Sen. Daniels, was rejected on a voice vote on February 24, 2022. On February 24, 2022 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 17, 2022 and was referred to the House Environment and Agriculture committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 5, 2022. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 21, 2022 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 12, 2022 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 20, 2022, making it Chapter 97 of the session laws. It took effect on July 19, 2022.
