The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 2022 and referred to the Senate Election Law and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 12, 2022. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 3, 2022 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 17, 2022 and was referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 2022. The committee met in executive session on April 8, 2022 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 20–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 4, 2022 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 2022 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2022-2101e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. An enrolled bill amendment (2022-2101) was considered. These correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 24, 2022, making it Chapter 276 of the session laws. It took effect on August 23, 2022.
