The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2022 and referred to the Senate Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 11, 2022. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 3, 2022 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 17, 2022 and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 11, 2022. The committee held work sessions on April 19, 2022 and April 25, 2022. The committee met in executive session on April 25, 2022 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2022-1773h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1773h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 4, 2022, changing the text of the bill. On May 4, 2022 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 12, 2022 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Daniels. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 2022 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 3, 2022, making it Chapter 132 of the session laws.
