The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2021-0024s). On February 4, 2021 the Senate adopted “Special Order to 02/11/2021, RC 24Y-0N”, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2021-0024s). The committee's amendment (2021-0024s) was adopted on a roll call 24–0 on February 11, 2021, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (2021-0322s), offered by Sen. Sherman, was adopted on a roll call 24–0 on February 11, 2021, changing the text of the bill. On February 11, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it with changes and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 25, 2021 and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee met in executive session on May 13, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on September 8, 2021 and October 13, 2021. The committee met in executive session on October 26, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2021-2187h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2021-2187h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 5, 2022, changing the text of the bill. On January 5, 2022 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On February 3, 2022 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. French. The bill was enrolled on February 3, 2022 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on February 23, 2022, making it Chapter 3 of the session laws. It took effect on April 24, 2022.
