  • House committee: Education
  • Senate committee: Finance

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. A floor amendment (2021-0438s), offered by Sen. Kahn, was rejected on a roll call 10–14 on February 18, 2021. On February 18, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 25, 2021 and was referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a work session on May 13, 2021. The committee met in executive session on May 20, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee met in executive session on October 14, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 20–0, to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 5, 2022 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
