HB 622-FN (2022)
protecting nascent human life as a reasonable and valid state interest.
- Status: Died on the table
- Term: 2021-2022
- House committee: Judiciary
- Subject: Miscellaneous
The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee met in executive session on September 28, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2021-2121h), and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 11–10. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 6, 2022 the House voted to lay it on the table on a division vote 325–23, on a motion by Rep. Steven Smith.
