requiring notice to the public before immigration checkpoints are conducted.
- Status: Killed
- Term: 2021-2022
- House committee: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
- Senate committee: Judiciary
- Subject: Police
The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on September 28, 2021 and October 5, 2021. The committee met in executive session on October 20, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2021-2201h), and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 11–9. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 6, 2022 the House voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 254–85. It crossed to the Senate and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 8, 2022. The committee recommended that the Senate kill it. On April 14, 2022 the Senate voted to kill it.
