  • Chapter law: 10

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Special Committee on Redistricting committee. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee met in executive session on November 16, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2021-2247h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee met in executive session on November 17, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee's amendment (2021-2247h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 5, 2022, changing the text of the bill. On January 5, 2022 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on January 5, 2022 and was referred to the Senate Election Law and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 26, 2022. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2022-0569s). The committee's amendment (2022-0569s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 16, 2022, changing the text of the bill. On February 16, 2022 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on March 17, 2022 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on March 23, 2022, making it Chapter 10 of the session laws.
