The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Special Committee on Redistricting committee. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee met in executive session on November 16, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House study it after the session ends, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee met in executive session on November 17, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. On January 5, 2022 the House voted to study it after the session ends on a voice vote. On January 5, 2022 the House failed “Reconsider Special order” on a roll call 35–316, on a motion by Rep. Cali-Pitts. The committee met in executive session on October 25, 2022 to vote on its recommendation. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “Not Recommended for Future Legislation”, by a vote of 12 to 0.
