HB 169 (2022)
establishing a commission to study the removal of unused utility poles following the transition of equipment, lines, and cables to new utility poles.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2021-2022
- House committee: Science, Technology and Energy
- Senate committee: Energy and Natural Resources
- Subject: Study Committees and Commissions
- Chapter law: 286
The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Public Works and Highways committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Science, Technology and Energy committee instead. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a work session on September 29, 2021. The committee met in executive session on October 26, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 21–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 5, 2022 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on January 5, 2022 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 7, 2022. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2022-1372s). The committee's amendment (2022-1372s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 14, 2022, changing the text of the bill. On April 14, 2022 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 12, 2022 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Vose. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 2022 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2022-2114e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. An enrolled bill amendment (2022-2114E) was considered. These correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 1, 2022, making it Chapter 286 of the session laws.
