The Story

The committee met in executive session on February 2, 2022 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2022-0814h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 15, 2022 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. The committee's amendment (2022-0814h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 15, 2022, changing the text of the bill. It crossed to the Senate on March 17, 2022 and was referred to the Senate Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 2022. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2022-1366s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2022-1366s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 14, 2022, changing the text of the bill. On April 14, 2022 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 12, 2022 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Rick Ladd. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 2022 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 17, 2022, making it Chapter 209 of the session laws.
