HB 1246-FN (2022)

relative to interlock devices.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2021-2022
  • House committee: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
  • Senate committee: Transportation
  • Subject: Motor Vehicles
  • Chapter law: 136

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2022 and referred to the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 23, 2022. The committee met in executive session on March 2, 2022 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 18–2 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. It crossed to the Senate on March 17, 2022 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2022. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 21, 2022 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. An enrolled bill amendment (2022-1984e) was adopted on a voice vote on May 12, 2022. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 2022 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2022-1984E) was considered to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 7, 2022, making it Chapter 136 of the session laws.
