The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2022 and referred to the House Fish and Game and Marine Resources committee. The committee met in executive session on January 25, 2022 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 20–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2022-021h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 16, 2022 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. The committee's amendment (2022-0021h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 16, 2022, changing the text of the bill. It crossed to the Senate on February 24, 2022 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 22, 2022. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 21, 2022 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. An enrolled bill amendment (2022-1985e) was adopted on a voice vote on May 12, 2022. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 2022 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2022-1985E) was considered to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 7, 2022, making it Chapter 135 of the session laws.
