The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 2022 and referred to the House Environment and Agriculture committee. The committee met in executive session on February 1, 2022 to vote on its recommendation. The committee held a work session on February 1, 2022. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 16, 2022 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 24, 2022 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2022. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2022-1662s). The committee's amendment (2022-1662s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 28, 2022, changing the text of the bill. On April 28, 2022 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 12, 2022 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Pearl. The bill was enrolled on May 26, 2022 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 17, 2022, making it Chapter 188 of the session laws.
