The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2022 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee met in executive session on January 24, 2022 to vote on its recommendation. On March 17, 2022 the House rejected a motion to kill it on a division vote 158–169. On March 17, 2022 the House voted to pass it on a division vote 192–141. It crossed to the Senate on March 17, 2022 and was referred to the Senate Election Law and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 28, 2022. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate study it after the session ends, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 14, 2022 the Senate adopted “Refer to Interim Study” on a voice vote.
