SB 97 (2021)

relative to in-network retail pharmacies.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2021-2022
  • House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Insurance
  • Chapter law: 149

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2021-0326s). The committee's amendment (2021-0326s) was adopted on a roll call 23–1 on February 18, 2021, changing the text of the bill. On February 18, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it with changes and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 25, 2021 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee instead. The committee met in executive session on May 13, 2021 and May 25, 2021. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2021-1606h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2021-1606h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 3, 2021, changing the text of the bill. On June 3, 2021 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 10, 2021 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 23, 2021, making it Chapter 149 of the session laws. It took effect on September 21, 2021.
