SB 123 (2021)

relative to employer payment of required COVID-19 testing.

  • Status: Died on the table
  • Term: 2021-2022
  • House committee: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Employment

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2021-0621s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2021-0621s) was adopted on a roll call 23–1 on March 11, 2021, changing the text of the bill. On March 11, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it with changes and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee met in executive session on May 26, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2021-1758h), and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 11–9. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On June 4, 2021 the House voted to lay it on the table on a division vote 355–10, on a motion by Rep. Infantine. The bill died on the table when the session ended on January 5, 2022, having been set aside and never taken back up.
