SB 102 (2021)
adopting omnibus legislation on property taxation.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2021-2022
- House committee: Municipal and County Government
- Senate committee: Ways and Means
- Subject: Taxes - Local
- Chapter law: 200
The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2021-0846s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2021-0846s) was adopted on a roll call 24–0 on March 25, 2021, changing the text of the bill. On March 25, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it with changes and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Municipal and County Government committee instead. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 15–4. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On June 4, 2021 the House voted to pass it on a roll call 208–165. An enrolled bill amendment (2021-2062e) was adopted on a voice vote on June 24, 2021. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2021-2070e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on August 10, 2021, making it Chapter 200 of the session laws.
