The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2021-0853s). The committee's amendment (2021-0853s) was adopted on a roll call 24–0 on March 25, 2021, changing the text of the bill. On March 25, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it with changes and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Legislative Administration committee. The committee met in executive session on May 20, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2021-1554h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2021-1554h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 3, 2021, changing the text of the bill. On June 3, 2021 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 10, 2021 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Giuda. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2021-2058e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on August 23, 2021, making it Chapter 221 of the session laws. It took effect on August 23, 2021.
