HB 519 (2021)

relative to technical changes in the laws administered by the insurance department.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2021-2022
  • House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Senate committee: Commerce
  • Subject: Insurance
  • Chapter law: 56

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee met in executive session on February 10, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. It crossed to the Senate on April 1, 2021 and was referred to the Senate Commerce committee. On April 7, 2021 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. On April 7, 2021 the House failed “Reconsider” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Jason Osborne. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 29, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 17, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 25, 2021, making it Chapter 56 of the session laws.
