The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Education committee. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 11–8. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On February 25, 2021 the House voted to pass it on a roll call 190–155. It crossed to the Senate on March 4, 2021 and was referred to the Senate Education committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 25, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it and ordered it to a third reading. On April 8, 2021 the Senate adopted “Enrolled RC 24Y-0N”. The bill was enrolled on April 9, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 29, 2021, making it Chapter 159 of the session laws.
