HB 496-FN (2021)

relative to license plate covers.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2021-2022
  • House committee: Transportation
  • Senate committee: Transportation
  • Subject: Motor Vehicles
  • Chapter law: 55

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee met in executive session on March 5, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 18–1 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2021-0631h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. It crossed to the Senate on April 1, 2021 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee's amendment (2021-0631h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 7, 2021, changing the text of the bill. On April 7, 2021 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On April 7, 2021 the House failed “Reconsider” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Jason Osborne. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 22, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 17, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 25, 2021, making it Chapter 55 of the session laws.
