HB 402 (2021)

relative to takings of property in a declared emergency.

  • Status: Died on the table
  • Term: 2021-2022
  • House committee: Judiciary
  • Subject: Property - Real and Personal

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee met in executive session on March 10, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 11–10. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On April 8, 2021 the House rejected a motion to pass it on a roll call 166–171. On April 8, 2021 the House voted to lay it on the table on a division vote 169–168, on a motion by Rep. Jason Osborne. On April 9, 2021 the House failed “Remove from Table” on a roll call 182–193, on a motion by Rep. James Spillane. The bill died on the table when the session ended on January 5, 2022, having been set aside and never taken back up.
