The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Science, Technology and Energy committee. The committee voted unanimously, 20–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. It crossed to the Senate on April 1, 2021 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. On April 7, 2021 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. On April 7, 2021 the House failed “Reconsider” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Jason Osborne. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 20, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 10, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 21, 2021, making it Chapter 87 of the session laws.
