The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee met in executive session on March 2, 2021 and March 3, 2021. On April 7, 2021 the House failed “Reconsider” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Jason Osborne. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 22, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it and ordered it to a third reading. On May 6, 2021 the Senate adopted “Enrolled RC 23Y-0N”. The bill was enrolled on May 6, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 17, 2021, making it Chapter 36 of the session laws.
