HB 154-LOCAL (2021)

relative to community revitalization tax relief incentives.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2021-2022
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Ways and Means
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 81

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Municipal and County Government committee instead. The committee met in executive session on February 18, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. It crossed to the Senate on April 1, 2021 and was referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. On April 7, 2021 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. On April 7, 2021 the House failed “Reconsider” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Jason Osborne. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 20, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 10, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 18, 2021, making it Chapter 81 of the session laws.
