relative to private rights of action regarding pupil safety.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2021-2022
- House committee: Education

- Subject: Education - General

The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Education committee. The committee met in executive session on March 11, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 12–8. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On April 8, 2021 the House voted to pass it on a roll call 207–169. It crossed to the Senate on April 8, 2021 and was referred to the Senate Education committee. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2021-1425s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2021-1425s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 20, 2021, changing the text of the bill. On May 20, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 10, 2021 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment 2021-1425s” on a division vote 203–158, on a motion by Rep. Rick Ladd. The bill was enrolled on June 24, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 30, 2021, making it Chapter 164 of the session laws.
