HB 131 (2021)

relative to reporting of health care associated infections.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2021-2022
  • House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Public and Mental Health
  • Chapter law: 79

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2021 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee met in executive session on March 2, 2021 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 17–3. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On April 8, 2021 the House voted to pass it on a roll call 230–130. It crossed to the Senate on April 8, 2021 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 20, 2021 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on June 10, 2021 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 18, 2021, making it Chapter 79 of the session laws.
