SB 209 (2020)

establishing a commission to create a New Hampshire recovery monument.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2019-2020
  • House committee: Public Works and Highways
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 22

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2019 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 13, 2019. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 21, 2019 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 20, 2019 and was referred to the House Public Works and Highways committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 15, 2019. The committee met in executive session on May 21, 2019 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on September 4, 2019 and September 17, 2019. The committee met in executive session on October 16, 2019 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2019-2768h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2019-2768h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 8, 2020, changing the text of the bill. On January 8, 2020 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 29, 2020 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sharon Carson. The bill was enrolled on June 30, 2020 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 17, 2020, making it Chapter 22 of the session laws. It took effect on September 15, 2020.
