relative to allowing employees time to vote in biennial general elections

  • Status: Died on the table
  • Term: 2019-2020
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Senate committee: Commerce
  • Subject: Employment

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2019 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 2019. The committee met in executive session on February 19, 2019 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on September 4, 2019 and September 24, 2019. The committee met in executive session on November 6, 2019 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 10–4 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2019-2854h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (2019-2854h) was adopted on a roll call 186–173 on January 8, 2020, changing the text of the bill. On January 8, 2020 the House voted to pass it with changes on a division vote 211–148. It crossed to the Senate on March 11, 2020 and was referred to the Senate Commerce committee. On June 16, 2020 the Senate adopted “Vacated from Committee and Laid on Table” on a voice vote. The bill died on the table under Senate Rule 3-23 at adjournment on September 16, 2020, having been set aside and never taken back up.
