The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2019 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 13, 2019. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2019-1190s). The committee's amendment (2019-1190s) was rejected on a voice vote on March 28, 2019. A floor amendment (2019-1372s), offered by Sen. Bradley, was adopted on a voice vote on March 28, 2019, changing the text of the bill. On March 28, 2019 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 24, 2019. The committee held a work session on April 25, 2019. The committee met in executive session on May 7, 2019 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 21–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 23, 2019 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 6, 2019 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 1, 2019, making it Chapter 155 of the session laws.
