The Story

The committee voted 15–3 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On May 2, 2019 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. On May 2, 2019 the bill was referred to the Finance committee. The committee held a work session on May 7, 2019. The committee held a public hearing on May 15, 2019 on a proposed non-germane amendment (2019-1833h). The committee held work sessions on May 21, 2019 and May 22, 2019. The committee met in executive session on May 29, 2019 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 22–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2019-2145h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (2019-2145h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 5, 2019, changing the text of the bill. On June 5, 2019 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 6, 2019 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. D'Allesandro. On June 6, 2019 the House adopted “House Accedes to Senate Request for CofC” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Myler. On June 27, 2019 the House adopted the conference report (2518c) on a voice vote. On June 27, 2019 the Senate adopted the conference report (2019-2518c) on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 27, 2019 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 29, 2019, making it Chapter 301 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 2019.
